B I O G R A P H Y
Alexej Malakhau was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus and now lives and works in Cologne, Germany. He grew up in an artistic family and his mother, a classical pianist, taught him how to play the piano at the age of five. At the age of 12 Alexej Malakhau became passionate about the saxophone. He received an artistic instrumental training 1997 - 2002 in Minsk and studied from 2003 - 2010 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne (Professor Wolfgang Engstfeld).
He played with various orchestras in Belarus and Germany, among them the Youth Jazz Orchestra Minsk, the National Orchestra of Belarus and the BuJazzO (Youth Jazz Orchestra Germany) lead by Peter Herbolzheimer. Furthermore, Alexej Malakhau took part in several jazz festivals, such as Minsk Jazz, Cologne Jazz Night, Leverkusener Jazztage, Jazz Rally Düsseldorf, jazzOUT! Heerlen, Jazztage Ingolstadt, Moerser Jazztage, Jazz Festival Gronau and Generations Frauenfeld.
Alexej Malakhau is a highly talented artist regarding jazz as well as pop music with years of experience on stage and in the studio, as well as TV appearances. He collaborated with Andy Narell, Linley Marthe, Hiram Bullock, Kenny Wheeler, Diana Torto, John Taylor, Triosence, Alex Sipiagin, Bodek Janke, Matthias Schriffl, Rainer Böhm, Roland Höppner, Olivia Trummer, Martin Gjakonovski, Martin Sasse, Hendrik Smock, Jens Düppe, BAP, Brings, Sven Kompass, East Drive, Roy und Elmer Louis, Jemma Endersby, The Sazerac Swingers, Junge Philharmonie Köln, Kristjan Randalu, Cosmo Klein, Mo Brandis, Joscha Oetz, Roland Peil, Glen David Andrews and many other gifted musicians and composers.
